To all my fellow artists, I want to share a secret with you I’ve learned to assist you in your success. One BIG thing that I’ve seen so many artists fail to do is have a plan to market their music. A powerful way to market is by having a proven system. Without a system, it’s easy to get caught up in a rat race, waste your hard earned money and valuable time. Here’s what I’ve observed many artists do. They make the effort to write songs, record an album, get CDs pressed up, perform a few shows and that’s it! No marketing plan. Putting music on iTunes and other online retail outlets is not marketing. All that equates to is adding music to a virtual store shelf that will collect cyber dust if no one knows your music exists. The “If you build it they will come” theory doesn’t really work for music. Not even for Justin Bieber, he has a marketing team. If you’re reading this today it’s not too late to learn how to market your music. Ever heard of Music Marketing Manifesto? I have two words for ya. It works. This stuff isn’t taught in school. I went to college and no music business courses I took come close to this. Google it and do your research but most of all, if you believe in yourself as an artist, you owe it to yourself to educate yourself and grow your music career.
Hey, I hope the beginning of 2013 is going well for you. January went by fast didn’t it? Some great things have been happening here lately. I’m experimenting with a new way of creating music. Beatbox voice guitar. As a producer, when I produce instrumentals, I tend to beatbox how it sounds in my mind and later play it on drums, piano, guitar, or what ever instruments or sythnesizers the sound requires. So, I figured I should let you see how I create music organically on video. Here is the first of many to come http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLCKwDeNLWHS5MPfINnd4WRoCV3yBV1FKY
If you like it please share it on facebook. If you can think of a popular song that you would like me to cover, tell me in the comments on the video. Thanks and have a blessed day!
It seems like 2012 just started and now Christmas time is almost here again. You’ve probably been wondering “where is TDG and when is he coming out with some new music.” Well, I’ve got some good news and bad news. Music is expensive to make, promote and tour on your own, but no complaints here. All I’m saying is it takes a lot, and I mean a lot of patience to create quality music especially with all the stuff I do such as visual art, graphics, production for other artists, videography, helping family, church and… you get the picture. However, (get ready for the good news) I’ve been busy working on some new music, experimenting on new ideas and sounds. Also, I’ve been getting my “acting on” a lil bit more, working on some new television shows for networks like Lifetime and TNT. Add that to my list of a gazillion things. I even drew a few pictures during downtime on set which you can see on instagram, add me at TDGofficial. So yeah, it’s a lot going on behind the scenes of the life of TDG. I’ve even been thinking about a name change, not that Diddy had influence on that lol, but for real. Half of the people I come in contact with have trouble saying “TDG”. Is it like that for you? Gimme some feedback on this in the comments folks. Until next time, keep living for Christ who died and rose to give us life and LIVE IT TO THE FULLEST!

Hey, this is TDG, the one wearing the white cap on the video above. Wanna know how “The Choice Is Yours” by TDG & Smiley-D was created? I’ll tell ya, keep reading. Smiley-D and I met on the internet and after recognizing the common goals we have it was quickly agreed that we should collab. With Smiley-D in Oklahoma, and me in Texas, I knew we had to make the most of today’s technology. So I grabbed my acoustic guitar, dropped a beat, produced this track and we wrote some lyrics to it. Not lyrics just sayin’ anything, but something that would help someone change their ways for the better. Why did “Man In The Mirror” just pop in my head? Eeeeeee Heeeee, lol! But on the real, we sent files back and forward and once we had a complete song we knew people needed to hear this. So we planned the video shoot. I made my way up to OKC and shot the first half of the video shoot with Smiley-D. We had a few adventures too. Day one, there was an earthquake! While eating dinner at the table all of a sudden everything started rumbling and shaking. I busted out praying right there! Some of the people in the room thought for a second about hiding under the table, but it was made of glass. Forget that idea! So we all sat there and waited it out, while I was still praying out loud. The earthquake stopped and we laughed about our funny reactions to it afterward. Nothing was damaged where we were. A part of a highway about an hour away was damaged though. Another adventure on day two of the shoot was we were standing near the edge of a building with no railings to get the Oklahoma City skyline in the background. One slip and that would have been it! See what we go through for you, lol? We made it though and got the shots done so I headed back to Austin to finish the second half of video shoot with The Mack Boyz (the dude that got jumped and the other dude that got stabbed in the video, they’re actually brothers that rap together). I edited the video, graphics. As I continued to communicate with Smiley-D, we decided to give this track to the public for free because we know the message in the song is needed. There is also an acoustic version available on amazon. We’re cool with either choice you make, at the least please share the song or video on facebook, tweet it, or share anywhere so it will help someone. “The Choice Is Yours.”
A lot of people have been asking if we are a group but both of us are solo artists. If you would like to know a little more about us, here are our bio’s, TDG & Smiley-D. More of my music like my album Live It To The Fullest and the The Best Book (BIBLE Song) can be found below. God bless.
Here is my music that is currently on itunes, amazon, other online stores.
“Hey World! It’s a new day, keep your head up it will okay!” This hurting world needs to see there is hope in Christ. I know I need hope sometimes and it’s better to encourage yourself and help the people the around you instead of have a pity party, get depressed, and be of help to no one. This is for those who think there is no way out of bad situations. Always remember, it’s only temporary. Trouble doesn’t last always. Today is a new day! Yesterday is in the past. It’s time to shape a better tomorrow with good choices we make today. None of us are perfect, that’s why we gotta allow God to guide us. Whatever you’re dealing with, He can take care of it. Take it to Him in prayer and leave it there.
The opportunity came to visit my bro SaulPaul for a few gigs in Atlanta, GA. Afterwards, being the visionary he is and the work-a-holic I am, we decided it was time for another collaboration. We had done the single “Be Easy” from his debut album, ‘Remember The Name’ nearly a decade ago, and between that time and now, toured together thoughout the states as a duo and with the acoustic rap group Psalm Fresh. Now this time we wanted to make a video, with just us, chillaxin,’ with his acoustic guitar and my voice. The original video of “The BIBLE song (sing and rap)” had already gone viral, so it only made sense to do an acoustic version. It’s up on itunes right now and so far people are lovin’ this one too.
